With fear of seeing people on the way to work I got myself out there and focused on my training.
In total I saw maybe half a dozen people on the route and the traffic was fairly light for 7.30am on a Monday morning - might be slightly different when the kids are back in school.
I'm considering getting a few things printed onto my running gear such as 'Please Smile at Me - I'm raising money for charity' or 'Don't worry I'm not about to collapse' (as my face goes extremely red when I'm out!). I really wish people would give me a smile that says 'Go on girl, you can do it'.
If you read last years blog there was a similar theme in most of my posts. I wish people would realise that I'm not doing it to enter into the Olympics as I don't think I'd be fit enough to collect tickets but to realise that I'm ultimately doing it to raise money for a worthwhile cause. Think I might have to look into some printing!
So, how did my run go? It was tough... decided to take my intervals to running for 3 minutes and walking for 2.... about 1/3 of the way through I had to change this to less running as I haven't quite got my breathing right.
Here are my results:
Duration: 47' 33"
Pace: 13' 03"/ mi
Distance: 3.64 mi
Calories: 488
Def think that my ipod Nike app isn't calibrated correctly as this was the same route as Saturday morning. There is a half a mile discrepancy in the distance but it was the same route! :-s And of course, the pace was a lot slower! I'd be inclined to say that these stats are more accurate that Saturdays! Oh well, the discrepancy motivated me on Saturday!
For those of you reading this, please remember there are people who CAN'T run and then there are those that THINK THEY CAN'T run... such a big difference. I would encourage those that are the later to get out there and give it a go. You will be pleased that you did!
