Now that wasn't so bad was it?

Well... It certainly has been a while since I blogged about my jogging but I'm please to say that I'm back into it. OK so it's my first jog in a long time but it's a bloody good start.

So here are my excuses.... Which start back as far as last Christmas!!! Fell down the stairs just before christmas which left me with the most enormous bruise on my backside and also damaged the muscle (some of my friends had the great pleasure of seeing my bruise which covered the whole of my backside and left me with a lump there for a considerable amount of time). Nearly got back into it in the spring but was über busy with work which meant I just couldn't get into a routine of including exercise. This then resulted in me piling on the lbs so it simply escalated from there. And to add to it... The attempts that I made in the gym just didn't do it for me. Getting out there and pounding the pavements is the only way to get motivated!

So what spurred me on to get back? Well, the very same reason I started all of this back in 2010... Jo Pops has registered me for the Half Marathon again in October! (With my permission of course) AND the simple fact that if I didn't start exercising again soon I'd have to buy a whole new wardrobe as I'm bursting out of my existing one!

So how was my first jog? Not bad. Got up extra early to avoid as many people as possible and was down the Marina by about 7.30am. Luckily no one was about. Had all the gear on and just went for it. Paced myself to keep it realistic as if I pushed myself too hard I'd give up and not go back out again. Stuck with running for 2 minutes and walking for 2 minutes. Didn't manage to completely stick to it but didn't do too bad!

How did I do? Well, one thing I noticed was that I'd done 5.4km in about 39 minutes, although slow for most people this is close to what I achieved in the Race for Life 2010. So I'm quite pleased with that.

Duration: 48' 50" *
Pace: 11' 36"/ mi
Distance: 4.21 mi
Calories: 415

*I was using my new iPod to measure my run so it was probably a bit less than this as wasn't sure how to use it.

Just checked my training records from last year and it seems my pace is pretty good considering it was my first time out there! Maybe it has something to do with my magic daps that I invested in back last november!

Feeling quite positive about Octobers event!

Will be going out for another jog tomorrow with a view of increasing my intervals to 3 minutes of running and 2 minutes of walking. Lets see if the results come out about the same!

Wish me luck
